Ondo State once again proved to be a state with the foresight needful to create a productive workforce and favorable future on Thursday 27th December with the Skill for Free 2019 Campaign.
Skill for Free 2019 is organized by DSIgate and aims to empower 5 million Nigerians through free vocational skills training and provision of loans and grants to participants. To benefit from this training, registration with N1,000 (this covers course materials and certificate) is required and the preferred skill will be acquired for free.
The campaign was coordinated by the Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs Onifade Mojisola and her team of 18 Local Government Supervisors and agents in conjunction with the DSIgate team. The message was centered on the importance of citizen involvement in building a buoyant national economy. People were urged to register at the website with the opportunity to become agents who can further enlighten the people in their community.
The campaign started in the early hours of the morning at Isikan road all the way to Cathedral where people were intimated on the benefits of registering for the program. The one-on-one campaign create helped many people see the lifetime benefits Skill for Free 2019 provides to the young and old both male and female. The rally end point was Oja-Oba and Oja-Oba car park where people made further enquiries about registration and training.
The highlight of the campaign wasn’t the music, drumming or dancing but the depth of engagement, involvement and acceptance shown by the people. They welcomed the initiative, bookmarked our website and requested for additional fliers to distribute in their local networks.
Many people became volunteers and agents as a way to show their support. Trainers were also recruited as those who have acquired and practice vocational skills asked how they can partake in the project.
The rally in the Sunshine state was an astounding success not only because of the plans put in place by the Ondo state coordinator and her team or the commitment of DSIgate to its vision but also because of the people. The people of Ondo state saw a way to create the future they desire, keyed into the vision, provided useful feedback and shared their anticipation of the actualization of the project.
