April the 12th was a day like no other as volunteers from all walks of life came together in the city of Ibadan to celebrate the global day for the street child.

The outreach was organized by DSIgate in conjunction with Jos’SCAAR Initiative and Help to Rise Foundation in both Oyo and Jos States with the theme, “Save A Child’s Future”.

Volunteers at the event included health professionals, Hairdressers, Barbers, Comedians, OAPs and other enthusiasts who celebrated the day in grand style with the children.

Over 200 children took part in the outreach program which was later extended from the Ibadan Recreation Club to Sabo and Mokola areas of Ibadan. It was covered by major media outlets such as Radio Nigeria and AIT who not only broadcasted the event joined our team of volunteers to reach out to the children.

Highlights of the day include singing, dancing, interviews, medical check-ups and a lot of other interesting and impactful activities. Relief materials such as clothes and shoes were also distributed to the children.

Medical first aid, deworming tablets, malaria treatments, and other basic medications were given to those among the children that needed it. Meanwhile, general medications were given to others such as essential vitamins.

The event ended with the distribution of packed meals and cutting of the cake. However, that is not the end of the outreach. DSIgate continues to work towards creating a productive nation by focusing on those who will create our future and empowering them to live independent lives.

P.S: New vocational courses such as Paint making, Solar Panel Installation, POP production, Wall Screeding, Shoe Making, Wig making, etc are now available on DSIgate online portal and it’s absolutely FREE.
